Forgive us! These docs are a work in progress. Some pages may be incomplete or describe features that aren't quite finished yet. Farkitect is in early development and we don't recommend using it for real work just yet. Feel free to explore — just be aware that things are still being built.

How to clone a diagram, catalog or board

A diagram, catalog or board is a view of your model. Cloning one gives you an independent copy to reshape for a different audience — hide or show different elements, reformat, re-route — while the original stays exactly as it was.

  1. Right-click the diagram, catalog or board in the Explorer
  2. Select Clone Diagram (or Clone Catalog / Clone Board)
  3. The copy appears beside the original, named “… (copy)”, with its name already selected for editing
  4. Type the new name and press Enter (Escape keeps “(copy)”)

The copy is not opened automatically, so you can clone several in a row; double-click it to open.

  • Diagrams — every node and edge, per-node and per-edge formatting, waypoints, label positions, nesting, the viewport, and all view toggles (compartments, stereotypes, property names, empty properties, relationship labels). View links on the diagram are copied too, pointing to the same views
  • Catalogs — the classifier, column order, hidden columns, widths, sort and filter
  • Boards — the classifier, grouping property, columns, WIP limits, card properties, sort, filter, and manual card order

The copy shows the same model elements and relationships — cloning a view never duplicates the model. Editing an element’s name or properties changes it on every view; adding, hiding or repositioning it on the copy affects only the copy.

If the diagram you’re cloning has unsaved changes on the canvas, they are saved first so the copy matches what you see.

A clone of a child diagram is another child diagram of the same element; the drill-down chooser lists both.
